Line Removal

 

Black Out Paint

This is the simplest method of line removal however this method is indefinite but can last up to 5 years (depending on heavy traffic areas).  A black paint is applied to cover any existing line marking, this method is perfect for small car parks and temporary measures.

 

Scabbing

This method acts as a grinder and is commonly used on smaller amounts of removal. It can be used on most surfaces including tarmac and concrete surfaces.  This line removal method is good and can remove all of the surface marking however leaving a surface scar behind.

 

Hot compressed air (thermo lance)

This is the most popular method and uses propane gas and compressed air, combining the two creates a powerful burning result.  The thermo lance is extremely loud and creates plenty of steam as the road markings begin to burn. This method is not advised in close proximity of pedestrians or anywhere near underground car parks or buildings that may set off any smoke alarms.

 

 

Hydro blasting

This method is commonly used on large areas and large lengths of road that need to have thermoplastic road markings removed. It is by far the most expensive method but the most convenient and environmentally friendly. The hydro-blaster uses high pressured water jets to cleanly remove any road marking.
